World ID Registration & Verification Guide
From downloading World App to completing Orb verification. A step-by-step guide for beginners
1. Preparation
Before starting your World ID registration, prepare the following items.

- ✓Internet Connection: Required for app download and verification
- ✓Sufficient Battery: To prevent power off during verification

- ✓In-Person Required: No proxy verification allowed (18+ only)
- ✓Contact Lenses: Remove colored and hard contacts (soft lenses OK)
- ✓Referral Code: Prepare in advance if you have one (optional)
About Referral Codes

2. Download World App
To get World ID, first download the official World App.
Beware of Fake Apps
Always download "World App" from the official store. Verify that the developer is "Tools for Humanity".
3. Create Account
Once you open the app, follow the on-screen instructions to create your account.
Launch the App
Open the downloaded World App and create a new account
Phone Verification (SMS), Username, and Backup Setup
You can set up phone verification (SMS), username, and backup. These are optional and can be skipped.
Importance of Backup Setup
Without backup setup, you won't be able to recover your account when changing devices or if you lose your phone. We strongly recommend setting up backup.
4. Find an Orb Location
After creating your account, you can obtain a complete World ID by getting iris verification from an Orb.

5. Verification Day
When you arrive at the verification location, follow the World App instructions to complete verification. The process takes about 5-10 minutes.
Start Verification in App
When you go to the Orb verification screen in World App, a video explaining the verification process will play.
Show QR Code to Orb
After watching the video, a QR code will be generated. Set your screen brightness to maximum and show the QR code to the Orb.
Verify You're Human
Orb verification begins. Look straight at the Orb screen and keep your head and body still. Push your bangs up so your entire face is visible. Remove glasses, hard contacts, and colored contacts (soft lenses are OK).
Verification Complete
When the scan succeeds, proceed to the next step in World App. Your World ID registration is now complete!
About Iris Images
Images captured by the Orb are encrypted and stored only on your smartphone. They are used solely for uniqueness verification—no images remain on the Orb, and no information is uploaded online. For more details, see our Privacy and Safety page.
6. After Verification
Once Orb verification is complete, you'll be able to do the following:

After verification, you'll be granted the right to receive WLD periodically through World App
- ✓Register on Humanary
You can publish your profile as an Orb-verified user
- ✓Use World ID-Compatible Services
Sign up and log in to services that require "proof of personhood"

7. Troubleshooting
Q: QR code won't scan
Set your screen brightness to maximum. Direct sunlight can cause reflections that make scanning difficult. Make sure the entire QR code (including white margins) is visible to the Orb.
Q: Orb scan keeps failing
Look straight at the Orb screen and keep your head and body still. Open your eyes wide so your entire iris is visible. Push your bangs up to expose your forehead. Remove glasses, colored contacts, and hard contacts.
Q: I deleted the app / I want to change devices
If you've set up backup, you can restore your account by installing World App on your device (or a new device) and signing in using your backup.
Q: I can't access my account
World App is a non-custodial (self-managed) service, so if you haven't set up backup, support cannot restore your account. It's crucial to set up backup in advance.
